Course Outline:
This course examines the key theological differences between the Orthodox and Catholic Church including; Immaculate Conception, Infallibility of the Pope, Purgatory, Primacy of Rome, and Salvation of Non-believers. The course covers differences with the Protestant Churches such as Intercession of the saints, Sacraments and liturgy Mariology, Speaking in tongues and Christology. The course concludes with analysing efforts towards unity including; bilateral dialogue with the Catholic, Anglican and Protestant Churches, role of the world Council of Churches and obstacles to unity.
