Course Outline:
Today's Orthodox Christian is challenged to justify her faith in an ever more complicated world. Does God exist? Do science and reason make faith obsolete? Is the human being nothing more than a very intricate machine? Does life have any meaning or purpose or are we just a lucky infestation on speck of dust in a cold, empty, impersonal universe? This is a course for those who have wrestled with doubts and deep questions and longed for satisfying answers; for a faith that makes sense. It provides an introduction to the field of Christian Apologetics from an Orthodox perspective and investigates powerful reasons for faith. The aim is to equip the student to continue her own search for truth and to be better prepared to "give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15).
